Scuderia Ferrari confirmed on Friday that their Spanish Formula One driver Carlos Sainz will be missing the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah this weekend as he has been diagnosed with appendicitis.
In a statement Ferrari said, “Carlos Sainz has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will require surgery. As of FP3 and for the rest of this weekend, he will be replaced by reserve driver Oliver Bearman. Oliver will therefore take no further part in this round of the F2 Championship. The Ferrari family wishes Carlos a speedy recovery.”
Sainz was the third driver to finish in the Bahrain GP and took 15 points. He has been with Ferrari since 2021 and was announced as the team’s reserve driver for 2025. “The Ferrari family wishes Carlos a speedy recovery,” Ferrari said. Ferrari also confirmed that Oliver Bearman will replace Sainz in the upcoming Grand Prix. Bearman was Ferrari’s reserve driver in the Bahrain GP.
