SEOUL, May 4 (Reuters) – South Korea said it was verifying intelligence that a South Korean-flagged vessel was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, Yonhap News said on Monday.

A spokesperson for South Korean shipper HMM told Reuters that a fire broke out in the engine room of one of its bulk carriers in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the cause of the blaze was still under investigation.

He said there were no reports of casualties or injuries.

The U.S. military said two U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers had entered the Gulf to break an Iranian blockade and that two U.S. ships had transited the Strait of Hormuz, after Iran said it had prevented a U.S. warship entering the Gulf.
