Shots fired near Nazi documentation centre in Munich, say police

BERLIN (Reuters) – Shots were fired outside the Nazi documentation centre in central Munich on Thursday, German police said, adding they had shot and hit a suspect.

There are currently no indications of any other suspects or incidents in the city, the police said on X.

The centre, which documents the history of the Nazi dictatorship, is located near the Israeli consulate general in Munich’s Maxvorstadt neighbourhood.

Earlier police had said a large operation was underway in response to an incident and asked the public to avoid the area in a post on social media platform X. A helicopter had been deployed to give a better overview of the situation.
