April 16 (Reuters) – Russian forces attacked Ukrainian capital Kyiv with missiles early on Thursday, injuring several people, triggering fires and causing damage in several city districts, local officials said.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a missile had flown into the sixth floor of a 16-floor apartment building in the central Podil district, but no fire had occurred.

He said a large fire had broken out in a building in the Obolon district in the north of the capital and four emergency medical workers were injured, while debris had fallen in several locations

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city’s military administration, said at least four people had been injured.

Russian attacks also triggered major fires in the southeastern city of Dnipro, injuring five people, regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha wrote on Telegram. Pictures posted online showed buildings ablaze.
