(Reuters) -Russian drones struck a residential building and energy installations on Thursday evening in and near Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Odesa, killing one person, injuring at least two and knocking out a boiler plant used for heating, the regional governor said.

“Houses, a church and cars have been damaged,” Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper said on the Telegram messaging app.

“In some locations, fires broke out. Also damaged was the main pipeline for heating supplies. One of the city’s boiler plants has been forced to shut down.”

Emergency crews were tackling the aftermath of what he described as a “mass attack”.

Unofficial Telegram-based news outlets posted a video of a building in flames, with firefighting equipment stationed nearby.

Ukrainian officials and the military had warned of drones approaching Odesa before the attack. The air-raid alert was lifted for the region about 40 minutes after being issued.
