MEXICO CITY, April 29 (Reuters) – Mexico’s Sinaloa State Governor Ruben Rocha on Wednesday denied U.S. Justice Department allegations of links to the Sinaloa Cartel, labeling the charges as politically motivated.

The U.S. Justice Department earlier on Wednesday said it had charged Rocha and other current and former officials for their alleged involvement with the criminal organization.

Rocha said in a post on X that the accusations would be proven false. He also characterized the legal action as an assault on the Morena political party currently in power.
