Tel Aviv [Israel], October 26 (ANI/TPS): After losing 5.18 per cent of its value against the USD since its last level before the October 7 Hamas attack, the Shekel’s value remained the same at the end of trading Wednesday. And the Shekel made slight gains against other currencies for the first time since then.

The following are the end-of-day exchange rates as set by the Bank of Israel on Wednesday, October 25, 2023: (Units are given in foreign currency and the rate is given in its value in Shekels)

Meanwhile, as a “ground offensive” of the besieged Gaza Strip loomed, hundreds of Israeli tanks were deployed near the border in South Israel, waiting for the all-clear from the country’s political establishment and the military top brass.

Israeli tanks and troops mounted on armoured vehicles were deployed in the region, seeming to suggest that a ground assault on Hamas in their backyard, Gaza, could begin any time soon.

The Israeli Air Force said in a statement that it continues to attack all the time throughout the Gaza Strip.

“During the last day, the IDF, directed by the Shin Bet, destroyed hundreds of Hamas terrorist infrastructures, dozens of which were attacked in the Sageya neighbourhood. The hundreds of terrorist infrastructures that were attacked include anti-tank missile launch sites, tunnel shafts, intelligence infrastructures, operational headquarters and other headquarters,” the Israeli Air Force posted on X.

Reiterating his words, “Israel is in a battle for its existence”, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his goal against the Hamas war is “saving the nation” and promises that a ground incursion to destroy Hamas in Gaza will start soon, The Times of Israel reported on Wednesday.

He says Israel is getting ready for a ground operation, but will not share when or how. He says he will not share the range of considerations involved.

“We are preparing for a ground incursion. I won’t specify when, how, how many. I also won’t detail the range of considerations, most of which the public is not aware of. And that’s the way it is supposed to be. This is the way, so that we protect our soldiers’ lives.” (ANI/TPS)
