New Delhi: Donald J. Trump has claimed victory as the next president of the United States of America, in an election night address to supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, while calling for unity to make the country “special” again after “divisions” seen in the last four years.

Speaking early Wednesday morning in the US, Trump asserted that he will be the 47th President of the country, after he was projected to win North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania, leaving him just 3 electoral college votes short of reaching the majority mark of 270.

“It is a political victory that our country has never seen before. Nothing like this. I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honour of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president,” said Trump.

The former president added: “Every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family, and your future. Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we deliver the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve, and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America.”

Trump was flanked by his family, including daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, both of whom played important roles during his term from 2017 till 2021. Ivanka and Kushner were rarely seen with Trump in public, following his defeat in the last presidential elections.

His close circle of friends and from the political field, including Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, were also present on stage.

Trump, who has in the past called his opponents “enemies”, even saying that they should be lined up in front of a firing squad, in a rather conciliatory tone, called for unity amongst Americans.

“The task before us will not be easy. I will bring every ounce of energy, spirit and fight that I have in my soul to the job that you have entrusted to me … this is the most important job in the world. Just as I did in my first time, I will govern by a simple motto: promises made, promises kept,” he said.

The 78-year-old added: “I am asking every citizen all across our land to join me in this noble and righteous endeavour. It is time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us. It is time to unite and we have to try–success will bring us together, I have seen that.”

The former US President also called out billionaire Elon Musk as a “very special” person, and a good friend, while meandering for a few minutes on Musk’s company SpaceX’s recent successes in rocket launches.

Amongst the call outs, he also urged his Vice Presidential pick J.D. Vance to address the crowd, who termed Trump’s success as one of the greatest political comebacks in history. Trump also promised that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will help “Make America Healthy Again”.

Kennedy, a known anti-vaccination advocate, has in recent weeks taken aim at “fluoride” found in the water around the country.

Trump was impeached twice during his first term, and also convicted earlier this year in a hush money scandal by a court in New York. He also survived an assassination attempt on the campaign trail in July this year.

  1. “Golden age for America” tells Mr Trump. Isn’t it something similar to “ACCHE DIN”, “AMRIT KAAL” of Modi? In this “AMRIT KAAL”, all BJP leaders including Modi are depending only on religious divisions to get votes. “BATOGE TO KATOGE”, “TMHARI BAHU-BETI LE JAYENGE”, “BHUSPETHIYON SE SAVDHAN”… Is this “AMRIT KAAL”?
