GUATEMALA CITY, April 23 (Reuters) – Guatemala’s Constitutional Court ordered on Thursday that a list of six finalists to become attorney general next month be annulled.
The list, defined by a committee of jurists earlier this week, made headlines after current Attorney General Consuelo Porras was left off the list and put out of the running.
Porras is a leading adversary of President Bernardo Arevalo and has been sanctioned by the U.S., Canada, the European Union and others for alleged corruption, persecution of human rights advocates and efforts to undermine Arevalo’s 2023 election.
