MARSEILLE (Reuters) – Two researchers who threw explosive bottles over the perimeter wall and into the garden of the Russian consulate in Marseille were sentenced on Thursday by a French court to eight months in prison to be served at home with ankle bracelet monitoring.

The French nationals, who work at France’s CNRS research institute, had admitted responsibility for Monday’s arson attack.

A French prosecutor had sought a year of monitoring with an ankle bracelet for them.
