PARIS (Reuters) -French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that he had spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the two leaders coordinating their positions on the war in Ukraine.

Macron added that on trade issues, the two leaders agreed to strengthen economic exchanges and strategic partnerships.

India has come under pressure from the United States over its purchases of Russian oil and goods from the country are facing additional tariffs of up to 50%, among the highest imposed by Washington, over the issue.
