New Delhi: France has contributed EUR 12 million (approximately USD 13.1 million) to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the year 2024. This crucial contribution underscores France’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and global cooperation.
According to a press release, funds will support UNDP’s core resources, enabling the organization to address critical global challenges such as poverty eradication, climate action, and gender equality. A significant portion of UNDP’s core funding, including France’s contribution, is directed towards crisis response in conflict-affected countries. The majority of UNDP’s core funding, including France’s contribution, is directed towards crisis response in conflict-affected countries. Over 80 percent of these resources are allocated to least developed countries, while over 70 percent go to low-income countries.
In addition to the core contribution, France has earmarked $6 million for 2024 to support mine action and energy resilience efforts in Ukraine. The funds will also advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda in various countries, promote biodiversity protection through UNDP’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative, and support innovative financing modalities for sustainable development.
France’s support enables UNDP to provide essential services to the most vulnerable, including through digital solutions. In Ukraine, for example, UNDP’s support has helped the government launch digital access to crucial services such as IDP registration and pension services, reaching nearly 21 million people. UNDP is grateful for France’s continued trust and partnership. The organization remains committed to supporting France’s development priorities and advancing global development goals.
