SAO PAULO, April 15 (Reuters) – Former Brazilian intelligence chief Alexandre Ramagem has been freed in the United States, said Paulo Figueiredo, an ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro who lives in the U.S., on Wednesday.
Ramagem was also no longer listed on the website of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement among people detained by the entity. Reuters was not immediately able to determine his immigration status in the country.
Ramagem, who fled Brazil in September following his conviction for plotting a coup with Bolsonaro, had been detained by ICE on Monday.
