New Delhi: Cindy Rodriguez Singh, fourth on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s list of 10 most wanted fugitives, wanted for killing her six-year-old son, has been arrested in India. The agency had declared a reward of $250,000 for information leading to her arrest.
In a post on X, FBI director Kash Patel announced Thursday that Singh, a resident of Texas at the time of the crime, had been taken into custody. “Singh is wanted on state charges of killing her six-year-old son. She will face charges of Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution and Capital Murder of a person under 10 years of age,” Patel said.
Following her arrest in collaboration with Indian authorities, Singh was extradited to the US.
The case dates back to March 2023, when authorities in Everman, Texas, conducted a welfare check for Singh’s child. The boy had not been seen since October 2022. According to FBI, Singh allegedly lied about her whereabouts and, two days later, boarded a flight to India. The agency said she never returned to the US.

During the welfare check, the 40-year-old allegedly told law enforcement officers that the child was in Mexico with his biological father and had been there since November 2022.
Singh reportedly believed that her son was “possessed” and feared he would harm her newborn twins. In one instance, she had allegedly hit him with keys, and even told someone that she had sold him off. The six-year-old had a chronic lung disease. Investigators believe that she had starved the child of food and water.
A US citizen with ties to India and Mexico, Singh left for India on 22 March, 2023, with her husband, Arshdeep Singh, and six children, two days after the welfare check.
It was later found that the child, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, was not on the March 2023 flight and had never boarded it.
“Singh was charged in October 2023 in the District Court of Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Texas. In November, authorities issued a federal arrest warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution,” the FBI director said.
Adding, “This is the fourth ‘10 Most Wanted’ fugitive arrested in the last seven months. That’s a credit to tremendous field work, law enforcement partners, intelligence operatives, and an administration that is letting good cops do their jobs.”
