New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley announced Wednesday he would not play an active role in politics for health reasons. He added he would not take up any responsibility in the new government. BJP now has to scout for leaders to fill in his shoes.
I have today written a letter to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, a copy of which I am releasing: pic.twitter.com/8GyVNDcpU7

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is back in character. She will not be attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new government and the prime minister after previously — and to everyone’s surprise — confirming her attendance for the event. Who can blame her after the PM invited the families of BJP workers who were killed during the Bengal violence?
The oath-taking ceremony is an august occasion to celebrate democracy, not one that should be devalued by any political party pic.twitter.com/Mznq0xN11Q

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik went to Puri to pay his respects before being sworn-in as the chief minister for the fifth consecutive time. Looks like his prayers are always answered.

Religion is very much on our politicians’ minds. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar welcomed guests to his iftaar party wearing a skull cap. Now this is how you win ‘sabka vishwas’, right Mr Prime Minister?

Read Delhi Mahila Congress chief Sharmistha Mukherjee’s stinging reply to Modi bhakts who wondered if she was allowed to tweet photographs of herself with PM-elect Narendra Modi during his visit to her father, former president Pranab Mukherjee. At least, you’re not switching loyalties anytime soon, Ma’am.
Don’t need any such approval. We are Congress, not BJP. https://t.co/hnNfPqdlE4

Young blood of Shiv Sena Aaditya Thackeray tweeted about sanitary napkin vending machines that are there in BMC schools since 2017 to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day Tuesday. This was in response to a tweet on the issue by newly-appointed deputy leader of the Shiv Sena and former Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi. Sena sure is pulling out all stops to keep her happy.
Yes. All BMC toilets are being placed with Sanitary Pad Vending Machines and Incinerators, for the last 2 years. All of the 162 BMC secondary schools have sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators since 2017 #MenstrualHygieneDay https://t.co/etLKsMKDGC

Trinamool’s newly elected MP from Jadavpur Mimi Chakraborty tweeted “respect” to fellow actor Swastika Mukherjee’s clapback to trolls shaming her and fellow Trinamool MP Nusrat Jahan for wearing jeans at the Parliament. Looks like there are firebrands in the Trinamool other than Mamata didi.
Respect always ? https://t.co/knbpgFn6f5

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has some wisdom to offer: “If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home & think about it. Go out and get busy. (Dale Carnegie)”. Was this #WednesdayWisdom directed towards a particular someone sitting at home who wants to resign from his post?

Down south, former chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah is cosying up to the present Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. No threat from the BJP in Karnataka could deter them, he said. Brave last words, sir?
Had a discussion with Shri. @hd_kumaraswamy & Shri. @dineshgrao about various political developments. We are committed to provide good governance & able administration. No threat from @BJP4Karnataka shall affect our coalition government. pic.twitter.com/1feWNYVzJQ

The lone AAP winner in the Lok Sabha elections Bhagwant Mann called up Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to complain about expensive electricity bills but Singh didn’t take the call. Mann took offence and true to his status of the ‘rebel’, released Singh’s mobile number. Is it wise to mess with the Captain, Mr. Mann?

The national media coordinator of the Congress Rachit Sethi kicked up a juicy storm after posting a blog Tuesday evening, accusing Left-leaning lieutenants of misleading Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He later deleted the blog titled ‘The Deshdrohi Tag’, but he shared tweets of people who hailed his ‘honest’ blog. Clearly, he’s can’t decide whether he should brave it out or duck for cover.
At a time when almost the entire Cong Party is observing an Omertà code of silence, a young Congman chooses to vent his feelings in a blog with rare candour.. Worth a read. only an honest post mortem will now revive the grand old party. https://t.co/sWlkLglQqU
