Indians tend to fuss more about the damage done to the Indian psyche by Thomas B Macaulay’s infamous Minute of 1835, but he was preceded in this unholy endeavour by James Mill.
A govt official said that although ATF prices for domestic market had been expected to rise 100 per cent in April, increase was moderated to 25 per cent to cushion burden on domestic passengers.
It’s easy to understand why the government can’t speak the hard truth. When this war ends, as all wars do, India’s interests will lie with both the winner and the loser.
This isn’t a good way to talk about Kannadigas – really they aren’t like colluding against “North Indians”. The military officer in question, unfortunately, acted with excessive force against the civilian – as is obvious from the public CCTV footage, then he made a complaint with police to arrest the biker. The biker was also very angry and was probably abusive, but it also appears that the conflict escalated.
If people claim to be intelligent – then it’s obvious that there was nothing to be gained by getting into a physical fight, and the intelligent party should have just let the matter drop.
What really bothers all of us is the complete one-sided nature of the complaint where it appears that the complainant was stopped, abused and assaulted for NO REASON AT ALL. Only the public CCTV footage showed that it wasn’t what it was made out to be in the complaint.
Kannadigas consider every single outsider as north-Indian and Hindi-speaking. The fact that there are people living in India who do not hail from the north or even speak Hindi (with the exception of South India) is totally lost on them.
And yes, Kannadigas do have a habit of ganging up against outsiders in case of a conflict. It does not matter to them who is right and who is wrong. Neither do ethics and principles.
They are a deeply parochial and chauvinist people and gang up against “outsiders”.
