Delhi Police had filed chargesheet against BJP MP and former WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh last June. Court to hear matter next on 20 January.
The court granted relief to Singh on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and also granted bail to Vinod Tomar, suspended assistant secretary of Wrestling Federation of India, in the case.
At rally in home turf Kaiserganj, the benched WFI president said he would contest the 2024 polls from the constituency. He also lauded 'Modi-wala Bharat' and slammed Congress.
Farmers from the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Puadh said they would stand in support of the wrestlers since it is a fight for the dignity of women in the country.
Former Union minister Choudhary Birendra Singh said he met BJP chief J.P. Nadda around Karnataka assembly polls and the latter told him he would speak to home and sports ministries.
Proposed rally was seen as the WFI chief and BJP MP's attempt to consolidate support of a section of seers in wake of several women wrestlers accusing him of sexual harassment.
Two FIRs against WFI head allegedly reveal sexual advances made by him towards wrestlers during competitions in India & abroad. One complainant claims she 'couldn't sleep or eat for days'.
Police sources say FIR lodged under IPC sections 147, 149, 186, 188, 332, 353, and section 3 of the PDPP Act. Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik & Bajrang Punia were detained Sunday.
