Timely ,efficient and cost effective service will be the ideal motto to follow. Technology should
be useful to increase capacity handling,electrification and safe travel. Commercial motives in the
short run could be disastrous.They should ideally supplement road transport,and make travel
a pleasure. goods carriage economical.
So far Railways had an enviable record of performance mainly due to the contribution of its management and technical ,commercial officers and other staff,Changes if any can best be accomplished with their involvement and concurrence, This will facilitate a smooth changeover.
Well, it’s not wrong to charge airways like fare for airways like services and for poor and needy, there are General and sleeper tickets, which are super cheap and even special trains which cater to them by giving affordable transports.
Putting the finances of IR on a sound, sustainable footing is a more modest but worthy task.

True but when priorities are not national service but commercial gains, such decisions only can be expected.
