The Supreme Court of India is the country’s apex court and the final place for an appeal. Its judgments are binding on all other courts, and it serves as the final interpreter of the Constitution.
The Supreme Court came into existence on 26 January 1950, the day the Constitution came into force. The first Chief Justice of the Supreme court was Justice H.J. Kania. Consisting of the Chief Justice of India and 30 other judges, it has extensive powers in the form of original, appellate and advisory jurisdictions. As the final court of appeal, the Supreme Court takes up appeals primarily against verdicts of the high courts of various states of the Union and other courts and tribunals. It safeguards fundamental rights of citizens and settles disputes between various governments in the country.
President Trump has praised the statesmanship shown by both sides in agreeing to a ceasefire. Spoken of how millions of innocent people could have been killed, an allusion to nuclear weapons. The hyphen is back. And the Kashmir issue has been internationalised, at least for a while. Time for restoration of full diplomatic relations and dialogue.
What is The Print’s take on the Khans of Bollywood not posting anything on X regarding Operation Sindoor?
Or that of the silence of pretty much all of Bollywood regarding Operation Sindoor?
These were the very people who quickly posted “All Eyes On Rafah” a few days back when Israel invaded Rafah. These are the people whose hearts bleed for Palestinians – who have consistently posted on X accusing Israel of “genocide” and other such crimes.
Now they are absolutely silent. Can you figure out why?
