Sachin Pilot is a Congress MLA from Rajasthan’s Tonk and the son of Rajesh Pilot who was also a Congress leader. He has been a two-time MP, a union cabinet minister, an MLA, the president of the Rajasthan Congress, and the deputy chief minister of Rajasthan. Sachin Pilot was the youngest politician to ever become MP when he represented Dausa in the Lok Sabha at the age of 26. He is also the first Union minister to be commissioned in the territorial army.
Sachin Pilot is credited with the massive turnaround of the Congress in Rajasthan in the 2018 polls, when the party won 100 of the 195 seats it contested. This, after a poor show in 2013, when it won just 21 seats. He was, however, not chosen as the party’s CM candidate, who picked veteran leader Ashok Gehlot instead. Sachin Pilot’s critical stance against his own party government in 2020 and tussle with Gehlot has since been a major talking point in political circles.
If Mr Rahul Gandhi took his job as head of the Congress party – never mind the designation – seriously, devoted sufficient time to it, was accessible to leaders and also occasionally to party workers, this crisis could have been defused in good time. Not giving Mr Scindia an appointment for one year set the stage for his rebellion and eventual fall of the state government. Mrs Gandhi was the siblings’ age when she became PM. They have had the world presented to them on a platter and see what little they have made of it.
“Some people” want to be a king without portfolio. If even the king has to work, then what’s the point in being a king? The king should have unlimited power to create a mess, and he should have unlimited resources and help to clear the debris thus generated. His power lies in creating Shiva-like mayhem. That’s the only way the commoners whose only job is to work will know how their Supreme leader differs from them.
Now it’s up to you to decide if by “some people”, the phrase used right in the beginning of this comment I mean
Rahul Gandhi, or
Narendra Modi.
They are both fundamentally alike in temperament. Like poles repel, if you remember your school physics. That’s why RaGa and NaMo hate each other so intensely. But why am I saying all this? Because I saw the phrase , “address leadership issues” in the title of this article. And here is one more and striking likeness between RaGa and NaMo : BOTH ARE HORRIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO LEADING. let this be some food for thought for you. They both are disastrous leaders. One has nearly destroyed a fine political party, the other has destroyed a fine and beautiful country. Or they are getting there, it’s work in progress, work in HECTIC progress.
