The cub found dead Friday had been released into wild with its mother by CM Yadav the day before. The one hit fatally by car Sunday had strayed out of national park.
Mukhi, as her name suggests, was the first cheetah cub to be born in the wild on Indian soil after 20 big cats were brought to the country from Africa.
This comes just days after Modi's visit to Namibia during which he emphasised conservation efforts adopted for Namibian cheetahs following their intercontinental translocation.
The two were among the first lot brought to Kuno from South Africa in February 2023 under Project Cheetah. They have been released in MP's Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary.
As part of Project Cheetah phase 2, next batch of cheetahs to come from South Africa & Kenya. 2nd plan is to prepare districts & states near Kuno to deal with cheetahs if they stray out.
