Narendra Modi is the 14th Prime Minister of India, holding office since May 2014. He is the first prime minister born after India’s independence and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Prior to becoming the nation’s prime minister, Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, where he gained national prominence. He represents the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, a seat he has held since 2014.
Narendra Modi joined the RSS, the BJP’s ideological parent, in the 1970s and joined the BJP in 1987. The following year he was chosen as the party’s general secretary for Gujarat. Modi took oath as Gujarat CM in 2001, after replacing Keshubhai Patel, who was held responsible for the government’s poor response to the Bhuj earthquake. Modi contested his first-ever election in 2002, shortly after which the Gujarat riots fueled controversy over his leadership. The Supreme Court in 2022 gave a clean chit to Modi and 63 others in a plea exploring a larger conspiracy behind the riots.
Known for his extensive foreign tours, Modi has been credited with raising India’s global profile. Events like “Howdy Modi” in the U.S. and his visits to countries such as Israel, Japan, and the UAE have underscored his foreign policy successes. He is said to have developed strong relations with top world leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
However, Modi’s leadership has been marked by several controversial statements, especially leading up to the 2024 elections. These include remarks on national security, religion, and political opposition, which have ignited debates.
This Khalistan land exists in the mind and action of terrorist not peace loving Sikhs
Indian agent was long exposed and now even dogs do not care for him….
Khalistani spotted
Wow!
I am trying to understand the brains of NRIs. So, you leave India for great financial prospects, contribute to the Canadian economy, benefit from Canadian systems, send back money to families — your families, and rise to highest echelons of political leadership in frigid Canada, far far away from every problem a regular Indian faces – a whimsical government which bawls on n on about how weak they are as a Hindu majority, utter absence of utilities, anarchy in economy, daily struggle to put food on the table, third rate sanitation, crony capitalism that bleeds this country dry and youth snuffing drugs. So, you are sitting million miles away from reality of people in Punjab, and are comfortable in the new cosy land. But you want to meddle in politics of a place of which you are not even a citizen? When in India, you were desperately chasing PR, now in Canada, you are desperately chasing Khalistan. Get a grip over your life. Be loyal to where you live. And dont meddle in other’s affairs solely based on your financial muscle now. Israel destabilised the world in their single-minded pursuit of an ethnic homeland. There is zero evidence that they are happy or safe after 70 years. Now, why will Khalistan be different? You are no longer an Indian citizen, you lost the right to determine this country’s future the day you got that Canadian PR. Integrate into the country you chose. This applies to all the NRIs spread across the world. You chose to leave India. You lost the right to decide its destiny. Be civil, visit home, make NRI movies, bring chocolates, crib about India being “so dirty”, pose at the Taj and take your flight back to where you belong. Stop funding idiots demanding Khalistan or emboldening the Hindu right of the BJP. There are enough Indians to take care of India. You lost that right.
Very well said…
I am Sikh living in Canada and have my roots entrenched in India and I feel sad when the Gurudwaras here glorify the lost cause of attaining a separate land. Khushwant Singh once said that there is only one place Khalistan can exist is in your empty mind aka “Khali” “Stan”.
It’s only a handful of politically connected individuals or who have political ambitions that keep this issue alive to take political advantage of this issue otherwise a common man does not bother about this and unfortunately these handful of individuals like these bring a bad name to the whole community around the world.
Day is not too far when there will be demand for Khalistan in Canada itself. Wish that day comes sooner than later.
