Modi’s presence is no longer enough to brush every other issue under the carpet. His charisma is beginning to wane, making way for other long-suppressed issues.
The BCCI decision has given new life to the lunatic fringe of the Hindu Right. It now has the confidence to force policy changes in accordance with its communal campaigns.
The latest comment comes as New Delhi and Washington have yet to sign a trade agreement. India’s purchase of Russian oil has reduced, but Moscow remains top source for crude.
If deal goes through, Greece will be 2nd foreign country to procure vehicle. Morocco was first; TATA Group has set up manufacturing unit there with minimum 30 percent indigenous content.
Many of you might think I got something so wrong in National Interest pieces written this year. I might disagree! But some deserve a Mea Culpa. I’d deal with the most recent this week.
It’s an interesting and very valid observation, “ People’s notion of what is happening to the country is disconnected from their personal experience.” It shows how important the publicity and propaganda are, more and more in these days of social media driven perception management! BJP and PM have proven abilities in this area. People are smart, sooner or later they will start looking at the publicity through the lens of their personal experiences and apply critical thinking to come to their own conclusions. The sooner that happens the better for the country. Not just for BJP but same critical thinking should be applied to any propaganda based on lies!
After ThePrint was taken over by RSS khakis, you see most comments by extremist ideology supporters. Dark times for a country divided by caste and creed. Humara kya hain, hum toh jhola utha kar Noseyland chale jayenge.
You predicted BJP is losing in MP, Chattisgarh & Rajasthan! We all know what happened. Monday – Agriculture expert, Tuesday – defence expert, Wednesday – EVM expert, Thursday – Bharat jodo yatra convenor, Friday – Psephologist. Saturday and Sunday- Op-ed writer. Jack of all trades, master of none!
It is very sad to see Yogendra Yadav descend to such levels. Doubting EVMs is the worst kind of disservice you can do to your country. And how come you can ignore the scores of non-BJP goverments in various states who came about despite your EVM doubts? As they say, it is so so difficult to remain impartial while reporting – you can try and learn that from Shekhar Gupta may be. Multiple times in your article, you have cast doubts that the votes wont translate into the result. I would call it blasphemous if Indian Democracy is a religion!
Yogendra- this will not age well. You see what you want to see. You are bias and prepare pitch for your candidate and not a person of high morale value.

Small correction – Most with drumroll few with despair.
