Security tightened as tensions flare in Manipur. This comes hours after Kuki volunteers allegedly took 20 people captive in Ukhrul, retaliating to an 'unprovoked firing incident'.

I think the only solution is, allow Meiteis to settle in the hills, just like all others are allowed to settle in the valley.
ST status can be disallowed to Meiteis. But constrained to 10% land in their own homeland is wrong. And if Chins keep coming over, that’s insult added to injury.
Miss Gupta in your writing, you mentioned “Christian tribals fled their home while non Christian, non tribals return to Imphal…” Later in the writing you also mentioned IDPs in Imphal. If my understanding is correct,IDP means internally displaced persons then how come IDPs simply return to a place other then their home!, while the IDPs in Churachandpur are also Christians and tribals, the IDPs ” returning to Imphal” are devoid of their religious affiliations and their community, all of them are ” non”m… Mostly the first hand accounts are from those who fled Imphal and all of them account in the first few paragraphs. Your attempt to add human touch to one group while reducing the other group as mere numbers or simply they return to Imphal is jarring! No IDPs return to a place by choice but their own home wherever it maybe. This reflect your biases and throw a bad light on your journalism practices as an institution.
