In 1962, PM Nehru rejected Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai's offer to withdraw 20km from the 'so-called McMahon Line', which the Chinese defined as the LAC.
After serving India’s covert Special Frontier Force for years, ex-servicemen now run clothing shops, eateries and occasionally sell winter wear on the sides.
With no signs of disengagement on the ground in Ladakh, where India and China have been locked in a stand-off since April, both sides will stay dug in during the region’s bitter winter too.

Per your map, does it mean India Valley sector in Ladakh is claimed by China as per 1959 line? Demchok, Chumur, Koyal, Dungti…almost up to Chushul. Demchok village itself is split into two one half is in China.
Does not look like they are interested in Galwan Valley? That’s interesting.
They don’t seem to claim any territories in Himachal though…do they have any claims in Himachal?
Just to understand the border dispute better:
The 1959 claim line (dotted line) lies further North-East to the LAC drawn in the fuzzy map above.
Doesn’t the mean China wants to go back from the current LAC line to the 1959 claim line?
If that is the case, why is PLA moving forward (i.e. Westward in the noth bank of Pangong Tso)???
India is protesting the 1959 claim line, even though it is further into current Chinese controlled territory, because India believes only in McMahon line from 1914 Shimla Convention???
Pangong Tso and Spanggur Tso they want us to go westward…I think this is to protect Kongka La. This prevents us from pushing eastwards at the bottom Northeast portion of ladakh
There is no clarification on where the 1959 claim line lies with reference to the current flash points and the reader is just fed some history about Nehru-Zhou’s failed meetings in Delhi. In case there is some advantage to India in the Eastern sector, we must insist on the Mc Mahon line in east and then discuss further about the 1959 LAC before rejecting it completely. There is no need to follow Nehru strictly.
In any case LAC is not a final border as that will be decided much later.
