The EEC Committee has suggested 11 institutes and out of it Government has selected 6 institutes for IOE tag. The last date to apply for IOE was 12 Dec 2017, which is further extended up to 22 Feb 2018. The World Class University needs huge investments, which could be more than Rs. 10,000 to 20,000 Cr. Neither Government nor existing private education players are in a position to do so. The only alternative is participation of Indian industrialist. Thus, it is a wonderful move by Government of India to open Greenfield route for industrialist to enhance the higher education sector of India. There is no harm in initially offering “Letter of Intent” to these players to build their campuses within 3 years and after satisfying all the conditions offering them EOI tag.
