How is it that there are fires, accidents, etc. on ships and submarines? Sadly, it is 1 step forward, 2 steps backward.
The IAF hasn’t fared any better. From Jaguar to AN-32, the IAF has lost nearly 10 aircraft in the first half this year – with 4 aircraft just in February.
This includes a just upgraded Mirage-2000 fighter that was to taking off on its acceptance sortie crashed, resulting in the death of both pilots.
Very unfortunate. Felt happy just a couple days back to read that the process of constructing six submarines is being speeded up. Difficult for a lay person to judge how our safety record compares with foreign navies.
Indian Navy’s projection of its Armadas with this cutting edge technology or that cutting edge technology is very disheartening when its plagued with fire accidents, some with lost of lives. Are the management and other responsible personnel so incompetent in arresting these kind of incidents? Shame on the Indian Navy!
