I came to this article with the hope to get some concrete information with some facts and stats. Sorry to say I got disappointed. Though NP has earlier provided more accurate information about the satellite industry, this article is nowhere close to this. Being into Space industry, here is the following this I wish I could get a better clarity on which this article never mentions-
1 – Who fled? Who are those company who are fleeing? No mention to that. Any examples, some statistics could be great.
2- Local disadvantage… Where are you getting this facts from? Is it related to specific private space company or just a general government law? R u saying ISRO is getting fare advantage against other Space company? Being a launch service provider myself I don’t see any other alternative to ISRO at the current moment.
3 – Where are the facts where Indian Gov support is not present, Sir, this industry has not even initiated to be compared to US Gov services!??
All I can say this article just point out some India Gov shortcoming without much of facts and evidences and compare to other well established countries and all these to say that these are reason for Indian startups to flee. Seriously??? No facts. No Evidence. No stats.. Just say what you want to say?? Disappointed big time.
Lets face facts, many launches that would be handled by ISRO is going out to SpaceX. ISRO needs more clients hence they’re opening up the satellite biz to private players.
In India model rocketry is banned, Somehow on Diwali it’s acceptable. They have recently added insane restrictions on the hobby drone flight too.
SpaceX came about because of allowing private players to innovate, walling up tech sectors and limiting them to government run organisations stifles innovation. The person who designed the Merlin engine for SpaceX was a hobby rocketry guy, here people are banned from exploring and creating things.
Just look at BSNL, it has been 8 years since the first private company started 4G services in India and BSNL is no where in the picture while others are looking at 5G.
Other than hard sciences and research, the govt. should allow the private players to take over engineering and product development. The failure that is Kaveri Engine is another example of this.
Imagine software being regulated by the government, thank god they didn’t figure out how to block software development by private players. Even today government software sucks, it serves as an example as to what happens when you only let government participation.
