Yes I agree with the print team that the military must never make political rehetoric; their job is to follow the military objective set by the civilian leadrship. So its unwise on the part of the CDS to make such a statement. He should do well to learn from his predecessor Field Marshal Manekshaw who said the time is not right to take military action in April 1971 when asked by PM Indira Gandhi. Mrs Gandhi wanted to take military actions in April itself, but the Field Marshal waited until winter after considering all options. Even Pakistan was so miffed by India’s non-action that it attacked by itself. Only in 17 days Indian miliatary made the Pakistanis surrender and it remained the biggest military action after the second world war and it gave birth to a big nation.
