Soren was arrested Wednesday night in the case after resigning as the Jharkhand chief minister, and state transport minister Champai Soren was named as his successor.
A legislator from the Serikela assembly constituency for more than three decades since 1991, Champai Soren is known to be a loyalist of JMM supremo Shibu Soren.
Hemant Soren was questioned by ED Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a case of money laundering. This is one of two cases against Soren being investigated by central agency.
The case pertained to 29 January raid at Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's Delhi residence during which ED seized Rs 36 lakh in cash and a BMW X7, which cost over Rs 1 crore.
ED has made 14 arrests in first case & dubbed JMM working president Hemant Soren's MLA representative as 'kingpin' in the other case involving ‘illegal’ stone mining in Sahibganj.
Soren was not at home when ED team had landed at his Delhi residence Monday. Soren has since written to ED to confirm his availability for questioning on 31 January.
This is the tenth summons issued to Soren in connection with alleged land scam case. Earlier on 22 Jan, Soren was asked to be available for questioning between Jan 27 & 31.
The order, issued after CM Soren skipped 7 ED summons, says information & documents in response to summons by central agencies must go through Dept of Cabinet Secretariat & Vigilance.
