The British had conceptualised a metro across the Hooghly river in 1921. But the east-west Line 2 of the Kolkata Metro is unlikely to be completed even by 2021.
The dynamics between Europe and Russia have gone so south that mending fences looks like an uphill task—even as the US swings between sanctions and olive branches.
Centre for Science and Environment in new report makes case for rationalising GST on waste material, saying most informal operators can’t afford high tax & it also hinders recycling.
Standing up to America is usually not a personal risk for a leader in India. Any suggestions of foreign pressure unites India behind who they see as leading them in that fight.
Young men and women from Bengal are running away to the South. Bangalore has the largest Bong population outside Bengal. Bengalis talk a lot and do very little work. they resist everything which come son their way, and they feel they have the solution to every problem in the world.
I can’t understand one thing in #EastWestMetro route of #KolkataMetro ..Why the route of Eastwest metro from #HowrahRailwayStation is only upto Salt lake (Sector-5) ? Why is the route not upto #KolkataAirport (without any interchange)
What kind of stupid planning is this??
Why such a half hearted and careless approach which is devoid of any logic?
All other metros running across other parts of India have direct metro line facility from a prominent railway station to the airport without any interchange
E.g
#DelhiMetro -NewDelhi Railway Station-Airport Express Route-Direct Route without any interchange
#ChennaiMetro : Chennai Central to Airport (blueline)-Direct line without any interchange
#Mumbaimetro :AquaLine(under-construction) passes through Dadar and CST Railway station upto MumbaiAirport -Direct Route without any interchange
#BangaloreMetro : K.R.Puram Railway station to BanglaoreAirport -DirectRoute without any interchange (Route under construction)

Anyone who has lived in Calcutta falls in love with the city for a lifetime. And if he has fallen in love, married into the city, it becomes an entirely different bond. The city and the state have seen modest growth for the last fifty years. My only prayer is that it always remains peaceful and harmonious. No one should snatch away one of the few things Bengal has going for it.
No bengaluru metro is slowest

Bongs always think they are the most intelligent people on the planet.

Alas! Competitive politics will not allow peace and harmony .
