It would be a disservice to the women of Hassan to look at Prajwal Revanna’s alleged abuse of power as a ‘sex scandal’. Allegations against him show what ‘absolute power corrupts absolutely’ actually means.
Air India’s new policy, effective from 2 May, introduces new weight limits for tickets in each of the different 'fare families' — Comfort, Comfort Plus, and Flex.
New Delhi has, in past, too, objected to Chinese construction activities in Shaksgam Valley. Work in this strategic region gathered pace after the 2017 Doklam stand-off.
A theme has not yet emerged for BJP & people see lack of a contest, which makes it unexciting. For all these reasons, 2024 is turning out to be an unexpectedly theme-less election.
The scene present in front of us reminds me of the script of FEW GOOD MEN.
Moreover, just because a Lt col did not get his choice of posting to Mumbai will not make him go against his own organization’s which he has served delligently for more than 20 years. There must be a substantial cause behind it for a Lt col to go on record to say something like this. And even if anything is unveiled, any newspaper or even Theprint won’t be able to publish anything against the Indian army as it is one of the most respectable and “allegedly”noncurrupt organization’s in our country.
With the kind of incidents happening inside the forces these days, the general public are loosing it’s faith..we need the Indian army to be one formidable force and its officers and jawans to be of such stature that no one dare point a figure at them. We need heroes in camouflage uniform to protect the innocent and not to assasinate them in the name of valour or BHARAT MATA.
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The officers of our defense services need to go a long way before they can be called officers. Do they understand the word ” Service”. They need to look down, to their under previleged subordinates.
Do you know the word service ?Do you know what army is about ?Do you know what are the SOP in disturbed areas….???Do you know how terrorist operate in these areas? You don’t …….
This officer has something personal issues.when things didn’t go to his liking, going against the organisation.should not be given much importance.doesnot deserve to remain in Army.
I feel killing a terrorists does not matter whether hot blood or cold blood. They don’t deserve human right. Human rights are for those who value human life. As for the officer concerned I don’t doubt his valour and patriotism but he has no right to speak of his unit what ever they did. Only civilians must not be killed in fake encounter.
Suspected insurgents are not terrorists. You should first figure out who a terrorist is and who is an insurgent. More importantly, the “suspected insurgents” here ARE citizens of this country giving every right as any other. It can’t be argued that they can and are killed in actual encounters, however if the security forces had arrested them then they deserve every right of a prisoner (even POW has rights).
I wonder how you would feel if the military/police pick you up and kill you, plant a weapon on your corpse and claim to have been killed in an encounter, just so that some personnel wants some citation or medals.
My point being arrested insurgents are just criminals, and should be treated like one with all the due process of law, and not just summarily killed.
Suspected militants is a jargon used by the media. Who are the terrorists are know to the Army, the local police and the Civil and military intelligence agencies. Some of these guys operate for the terrorist in open mode. They do not carry weapons, they live life as normal civilians but do engage in activities like planning of ambushes of Security force columns, extortion of money , kidnapping, providing logistic support to the terrorist organisation. planting of IEDs. So he is as good as a terrorist. Our laws are weak, if such a person is arrested and sent to jail he will be free in a couple of months as his case would go on appeal and then finally released due to lack of evidence. SO in the eyes of people he becomes an innocent whose Human Rights are being violated.
If the laws are weak then make them strong. Don’t throw it out the window and become lawless. The State has the responsibility to its citizens to establish law&order and deliver justice. This is not the ‘wild wild west’ where the man with the gun triumphs. The State loses its authority once personnel (military or otherwise) takes law in their own hands and murders people.
You are trying hard to normalize extra-judicial killings as righteous deeds and that a person (even if an insurgent) doesn’t have the basic right to live and to have an opportunity to be tried by a court of law. Your justification here is a classic example of fallacy of equivocation.
You can’t imply that a person is guilty solely on the testimony of the person who did the killing. The “encounters” are not all genuine, even the Supreme Court had come out saying as much.
I don’t what to see your speculative arguments when people’s lives and the integrity of the State security forces are at stake.

Let us not create more militants for the sake of unity.
