At best it seems like a mischief on the part of certain media houses. The Home Ministry has unambiguously stated that Mr. Taseer had provided incomplete information about his father’s nationality while applying for the OCI card. He tried to pass off his father Mr. Salman Taseer as a British national while hiding the fact that he was a Pakistani citizen too (Pakistan allows for dual citizenship). Wilfully concealing such information is considered to be a crime. Mr. Taseer tried to be too clever by half. Unfortunately, he was caught by the Home Ministry officials.
However, a section of the Indian media is bent on vilifying Mr. Modi and his administration.
