As for as digital transaction, many educational institutions are not ready for Electronic transfer and still demand cash for fees and also people are forced to use irrespective of value of purchase and many outlets are collecting 2-3% bank chs as they do not want to squeeze their own margin. Earki prop on their own used to maintain fine balance between cash for low value purchase and cards for high value. This stands disturbed now
If the premise was hoarded black cash, announcement of a prospective ban, say by 31 Mar17, would have brought it into the market leading to accelerated economic activity, greater indirect taxes. There would have been smoother transition to new money w/o hardship to innocent common people. At the same time holders of black money could be better traced than being done now. Comments?
Please I have genuine old currency 7,83,000rupees. I have genuine reason. I have all my bank account details also. My family now begging condition. Don’t cheat to me. Please collect first my old currency .after investigation give back new currency. Still i not pay my daughter school fees 17=18 18/19 two years. Why alternate currency was not printed in advance, at least to the extent of 50 – 60%, remains an abiding mystery. That would have minimised hardship to citizens and damage to economic activity and growth. Dr Rajan’s advice was tendered around March, so there was a period of at least six months to run the currency presses full throttle. 2. Currency in circulation was about $ 225 billion, less than $ 200 per capita. Say 25% was black money. That means about $ 50 had to be converted, with so many ordinary citizens and efficient bankers to facilitate the process, for a small fee. Unsurprising all of it came back.
