Hostilities between the Punjab CM and ministers in Justin Trudeau’s cabinet regarding the Khalistani movement seems to have stopped any chance of a bromance.
Experts weigh in on the low-key tour of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to India. He has not been welcomed or entertained by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet.
Sikh groups in Canada, USA and UK openly support a separate Sikh nation, and Indian security agencies believe they are trying to revive militancy in Punjab.

Without a Congress revival, there can be no challenge to the BJP pan-nationally. Modi’s party is growing, and almost entirely at the cost of the Congress.
I usually support Modi. But, this is a huge mistake, pushing an ally away over the khalistan, which will never transpire, because the collective deep pockets of all khalistan supporters can not even make a dent to India. Modi should have ignored this. Very bad decision.
Trudeau seems like a nice fellow but politically immature. For the sake of supposed political gain from a certain constituency in Canada, he is risking larger economic, strategic and even political gains with India. At the root of this perhaps is his lack of understanding of Asian history and society. Perhaps his desire to be seen as being racially inclusive has led to his inducting large numbers of diverse folk into his cabinet – which Khalistani sympathizers in disguise are taking full advantage of. Khalistan lacks support in India for sure, but perhaps Canada may end up inviting a problem on its own soil. The Government of India is right in its reception of Trudeau – correct in its observation of protocol, but sans warmth and any substantial economic agenda.
The mistake isn’t with the 3 men but 3 ideas–sexism, racism, and finance. Trudeau supports gender equality, doesn’t hate minorities and isn’t very considered with finances or profiting off his people by increasing taxes incessantly. So he’s literally like the anti-modi so there will never ever be any bromance between the two. Modi’s more likely to be closer to Trump who is more so like him. See if Trump comes to India, Modi will welcome him and be all over him. Heck, Trump Jr. is to come soon, see how that goes!
