BJP has drilled into public consciousness that JNU is ‘anti-national’ and filled with ‘Afzal sympathisers’. The violence on campus hijacked headlines this time too.

Putin sees this as a victory. Europeans have decided to deal with Trump on his terms for the sake of the larger Western alliance. We look at the lessons for us in India.
JNU should understand that they are education hub. Why participate in violence ?Siding with Afzal guru and celebrating Moist attacks is hineous crime against nation. Blaming the BJP govt because it’s ruling party is hilarious.
Why participate in violence ? you shoudl ask that of ABVP!
Siding with Afzal guru: They did NOT – but in light of the arrest of the police officer Devinder Singh, may be one should have!!
JNU produces UPSC toppers as well as Nobel winners. fearsome orators, party leaders, ministers, renowned authors, scholars and yes, intellectuals. AND it acts as the conscience keeper of the nation. what more can be expected of a university?
Actually, I remember JNU for its eminent historians, starting with Nurul Hasan the founder, who gave leftist twist to India’s history narration, painted Hindu period as dark age, Muslim rule as the period of enlightenment, and British rule as redeeming period for savage country like India. These eminent historians were the standard bearers in Ayodhya dispute, until the Allahabad HC caught the lying historians and threw them in dustbin. Political parties meddling in JNU, and a clutch of JNU students politically aligned to anti-India stance have brought this fate upon the university. Why blame BJP, or Modi or Shah for the disgraceful conduct of JNU students?
well said, there are forces who want to spoil the image of BJP and Modi as well, JNU always indulge in anti national activities, they support Naxalites they can support AFAZAL, always doing something nonsense. but some INTELLECTUALS like the writer of above article is one of those who are anti Modi and anti national.
What an upside down argument! JNU students fight for Human Rights and Justice in India. People who are against this are against JNU.
The public forms its own view of JNU and its, politics. It is patronising to suggest that the BJP, or any other party, can substantially influence popular views. It is the other way round. The BJP is representing the views of a lot of Indians, hence they are popular. The JNU students may be loud but they express views that the silent majority does not support.
To the best of my knowledge no comment or remark by a BJP is taken seriously or even taken in complete. Having low IQ, had faded their political fate and it shall remain a chaiwala party. You are welcome to meticulously document all their sayings.
But that ticket comes at a price. Imagine if the duopoly had not reacted to the Afzal Guru protest at JNU. Kanhaiya Kumar would probably not even have got a ticket to stand for parliamentary elections.
Now, everyone knows of Aishe Ghosh as a brave fighter!
Whatever Chanakyaniti may say, Confucius says that swating at the flies around your face only hurts you!
You got that wrong again. Kanhaiya Kumar got a ticket. So what? In Begusarai, Kanhaiya was used to split opposition votes. Giriraj Singh would not have won but for Kanhaiya’s radical appeal among some. We will see what Ayshe Ghosh goes on to achieve.
Expected better from you Mandal-ji. How can you blame JNU for damping CAA-protests? Pressures being brought to bear on you too?

“Those JNU students who have opted for politics are also doing good. Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar, Sitaram Yechury and Kanhaiya Kumar can vouch for that.”
I assume you mean they’re doing well, not doing good – unless you define good very liberally.
What if it is not B replacing A but adding to the mess. The CAA protests show no signs of subsiding, with people wearing T shirts in Wankhede Stadium to make their point. The shameful attack on JNU has Komal Sharma and Awasthi on the run, the Delhi High Court stepping in, asking that phones of the WhatsApp groups be seized. Which sane Indian believes that an institution which has produced two members of the CCS and contributes half the recruits to the Indian Economic Service is a den of anti national activities. India’s troubles and governance are far beyond headline management now. For that matter, even the management of headlines is not looking so compelling now.
Why did JNU students allow so called Tukde Tukde gang to participate in their gathering and not immediately disowned them instead of evading responsibility?
You can’t defend JNU by any means because it’s past and present is known to everyone.
