Vishal Jha, Shweta Singh, Mayank Rawal, and Niraj Bishnoi — all aged 18 to 21 — have been arrested for creating Bulli Bai app that ‘auctioned’ Muslim women.
According to sources in Delhi Police, data found on 20-year-old Niraj Bishnoi's laptop include 153 porn film downloads, and suggest that he has 'abnormal desires for Muslim women elder to him'.
It was Niraj Bishnoi who allegedly made objectionable comments about Congress social media national coordinator Hasiba Amin, before putting her photo up on 'Sulli Deals'.
Delhi Police DCP says Bishnoi, 20-year-old student from Assam, also created '@BulliBai_' Twitter handle and forwarded content to others arrested in the case, to put on social media.
Mumbai Police say the accused tried to project themselves as Sikhs on the app and social media. Police probing possibility of a larger conspiracy, say more arrests likely.
Police said Shweta Singh’s online activity grew after her father’s death last year. Co-accused Vishal Kumar Jha described as 'unexceptional student', and Mayank Rawat as 'bright'.
This is the second arrest by the Mumbai Police in the case. Earlier in the day, the police arrested one Vishal Kumar Jha, a 21-year-old engineering student, from Bengaluru.
Police had earlier filed an FIR against unidentified persons following complaints that photographs of Muslim women were uploaded for ‘auction’ on the app hosted by GitHub platform.
