The Nobel 2020 for physics was awarded to three theoretical physicists for separately proving the existence of black holes and discovering Milky Way’s supermassive black hole.
Astronomers at European Southern Observatory have discovered that the orbit of star S2 around a Milky Way black hole is flowery in shape, not elliptical.
With about 3.4 times the mass of the Sun, this source is heavier than any previously known neutron star binary, says astrophysicist & LIGO team member Karan Jani.
Scientists in Europe have observed probably the closest material revolving around a black hole that is believed to exist at the centre of the Milky Way.
Disenfranchisement by institutional fiat is profoundly undemocratic. The effect of the ECI's new documentary process in Bihar will tilt the scales in favour of the BJP.
Mini deal will likely see no cut in 10% baseline tariff on Indian exports announced by Trump on 2 April, it is learnt, but additional 26% tariffs are set to be reduced.
India-Russia JV is also racing to deliver 7,000 more AK-203 assault rifles by 15 Aug. These are currently being made with 50% indigenisation and this will surge to 100% by 31 December.
Public, loud, upfront, filled with impropriety and high praise sometimes laced with insults. This is what we call Trumplomacy. But the larger objective is the same: American supremacy.
One of the foundational pillars for the Penrose-Hawking singularity model is the oft-forgotten Roychoudhury equation. It is a fundamental lemma for the singularity theorem.
Prof. Amal Kumar Roychoudhury was a renowned professor of physics at Presidency College. Due to economic hardships throughout his life, he could do very little research. But his tutelage ensured that generations of brilliant scholars in physics graduated from Presidency College. He is fondly remembered by the Indian physics community as a great teacher.
However, his equation is part of standard curriculum in advanced physics. Its a pity that most Indians are unaware of this.
Would request Ms. Sandhya Ramesh to have an episode explaining why the Roychoudhury equation is so critical for the Penrose-Hawking singularity theorem.
Good to know an indian worked on such complex physics/maths. But to say he could not excel because of economic hardship even when he was a renowned professor is not sane thinking.
Print often tries to establish their superiority in journalism, but such efforts should be corroborated with perceivable examples. When there is an alleged (note the point ‘alleged’) problem of violence against dalit, minority, gender issues where men are victimized, I don’t think there is anything great about The Print. It is just as any other media. Do you think a boy (singly) can travel in a bus full of girls? No; never. but a girl can travel in a bus full of boys. The kind of nonsense India has been suffering at the hands of minority, cannot be found elsewhere in the world, but media are happy targeting the govt. The whole world tells and quotes that Narendra Modi is such a great leader that not just India but the whole world hasn’t ever seen such a great leader, but has any Indian media unequivocally said so? No, they will not; even The Print will not, because there is no sensationalization in it.
So, it is a irksome to hear good journalism etc., but continue what you are doing.
