The rebels getting LJP tickets to contest Bihar polls had caused friction between BJP & ally JD(U). BJP action comes after opinion polls suggest close fights in some seats.
At least 11 dons or their wives have been handed tickets for the first phase of polls to be held on 28 October. A majority of them have bagged RJD or JD(U) nominations.
Gupteshwar Pandey was keen to contest Bihar assembly polls from hometown Buxar, but the constituency has gone to BJP as part of the NDA seat-sharing agreement.
While the RJD has named 20 candidates, the first list of the JD(U) had 15 names. Their allies, the Congress and the BJP, respectively, are yet to release any candidate names.
LJP president Chirag Paswan also refuted suggestions about his own chief ministerial ambitions and asserted that his party wants the BJP to lead the government after the polls.
In the last assembly elections, the LJP won just two of the 42 seats it contested while many believe that Chirag himself is still a novice in politics.
