Being a govt employee I can say generally news persons don’t exactly know about our salary payments. We are also getting huge pay cuts on different heads like DA. Like any middle class salarieed people we also do expenses which ultimately help various industries during the current situation. Moreover we worked regularly during lockdown by attending our offices which no private job holder didn’t. Although it’s not their fault but we did work & continue to work diligently. So I think it’s our right to get incentives like bonus, which we fought to win.
If everybody “sacrifices” where is the demand going to be built up ? Appalling suggestion . Morsoever in a festive season which is the only hope to cut back on the recession the Indian economy will face this financial year.

The new government would have been within its rights to put the process in freeze. It had inherited a troubled economy, and the oil bonanza had not materialised. It could also have found a way to stall OROP, with the pension bill surging remorselessly towards one trillion. The latest decision shows the same extra consideration for its own employees at a time of widespread economic pain. It would be very well received if the redevelopment of Central Vista was put on hold for as long as compensatory cess is being recovered under GST, a rough and ready indicator of fiscal health.

It is laughable when somebody says one of the objectives of such largesse to Govt employees is to fuel the economy!
