FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters) – Reaction after Slovakia drew 1-1 with Romania in their Euro 2024 Group E match on Wednesday:

Romania’s Razvan Marin to PRO TV: “It means a lot (qualification for the round of 16), we are happy, we have achieved our goal, this was our goal from the very beginning. Now, there will be only one game and it will be something completely different.”

“We are very happy, we have achieved our goal, we are very happy to have made millions of Romanians happy. In any stadium where we played, we dominated especially in the stands.”

Romania coach Edward Iordanescu: “I start by bowing to the supporters of the national team. From here, from home, from everywhere. What I experienced here, these days, in these games and today, of course, I think you live once in a lifetime.”

“That’s where the biggest pressure comes from, because we don’t want to disappoint them. I think they should all be proud.”

Romania’s Ianis Hagi to PRO TV: “We achieved our first objective, everyone knew that we wanted to get out of the groups, we won the group and I think that in addition to the football objective we also had the objective of taking people to the streets, to make them happy, to be proud of this generation, of our team and I think we succeeded.”

“We are not afraid of any opponent, at the same time we are balanced, we are at the first final tournament at the senior level, but we have a good mix of experience, those who were in 2016, then us, the young ones, with a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of quality.”

Slovakia’s David Hancko: “It was definitely a sweet draw for us. We deserved to go through. We gave everything in this game. Because of my injury, this was a really hard game for me, but the doctors did everything for me to be ready to play. We tried to win the game, to win the group, but it did not happen.”

Slovakia captain Milan Skriniar: “We started very well, we scored a beautiful goal, then they equalised. We tried to play attacking football after that and we had some chances to score a second goal, but they had chances as well. To be in the top 16 teams is great. This progression belongs to the fans as they helped us a lot today.”
