DORTMUND, Germany (Reuters) -Germany and Denmark’s Euro 2024 last-16 match in Dortmund on Saturday was halted for around 20 minutes due to adverse weather conditions, as thunder and lightning raged overhead in the first half.

Hail stones began to fall on the pitch after referee Michael Oliver took the players off the pitch in the 35th minute with the score at 0-0.

“Due to adverse weather conditions, the match has been suspended,” screens inside the stadium read.

After a 20-minute stoppage, the players returned to the pitch for a brief warm-up before the game restarted.

A group match between France and Ukraine at Euro 2012 was delayed for almost an hour due to thunderstorm before the game was completed.
