Kolkata, Jun 15 (PTI) Kolkata Banga Tigers on Monday named South African duo Ricardo James Duarttee and Shiniqwa Lamprecht as captains of their men’s and women’s teams respectively ahead of the second season of the Rugby Premier League.
India’s Shahnawaz Ahmed has been appointed vice-captain of the men’s team, while Ghuge Ujjwala Ramdas will serve as vice-captain of the women’s side.
The appointments were announced following an exhibition match in Kolkata that brought together members of the Bengal rugby community, franchise players, coaches and supporters ahead of the upcoming season.
The franchise enters its maiden Rugby Premier League campaign with players from 11 countries across its men’s and women’s squads, combining international experience with Indian talent.
The season will also mark the debut of the Kolkata Banga Tigers women’s team, making the franchise one of only four teams to field a women’s side in this edition of the league.
