Nagoya, Sep 23 (PTI) The Indian team comprising Varinder Singh, Naocha Singh Laitonjam, Oinam Arun Singh, and Harshwardhan Singh Shaktawat qualified for the Finals (A) of the Men’s Kayak Four 500m race in the Canoe Sprint event of the Asian Games here on Wednesday.
The Indian team finished third behind China and Kyrgyzstan with a timing of 1:29.447, behind by +5.594 from the first place in Heat 1.
In Women’s Canoe Single 200m, Megha Pradeep qualified for the semifinals. She finished fifth in a field of six rowers with a timing of 49.675, ahead by 2.733 from the top placed rower.
The top three in the category made the finals, while bottom three from Heat 1 and bottom two from Heat 2 making the semifinals.
The pair of Soniya Devi Phairembam and Parvathy Geetha finished sixth in Heat 1 of Women’s Kayak Double 500m with a timing of 2:03.538 and will compete in the semifinals.
Similarly, in Men’s Kayak Double 500m, the Indian pair of Prasanna Kumar Sathyaprakash Chempadiyil and Prohit Baroi made the semifinals finishing fifth, clocking 1:41.141 in Heat 2.
