Surat, Jun 16 (PTI) Olympian Kiran Pahal of Haryana registered a comfortable victory in the women’s 400m race at the Indian Athletics Series here on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old clocked 53.49 seconds to finish well ahead of the field. Kiran’s season-best effort of 52.89 seconds came at the Ludhiana leg of the Indian Athletics Series earlier this season.

Kiran, who represented India at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, has a personal best of 50.92 seconds in the one-lap event.

In the men’s 400m, Tamil Nadu’s Pradeep S clinched the title with a time of 48.41 seconds, edging out Madhya Pradesh’s Brajesh Singh (48.70 seconds) and Maharashtra’s Vedant Sananse (48.85 seconds).

Haryana’s Naveen Kumar Dagar marked his return to competition after a long lay-off by winning the men’s 3,000m steeplechase.

Dagar clocked 9 minutes 09.80 seconds to finish ahead of Ashish Pal of All India Police and Uttar Pradesh’s Raj Kumar.

Among other notable performances, Army’s Nilkantha Ray won the men’s 800m in 1:50.45, while Navy’s Nikhil Bhardwaj topped the men’s 400m hurdles in 52.69 seconds.

In the field events, Haryana’s Avinash Kumar secured the men’s long jump title with an effort of 7.72m, while Maharashtra’s Jay Shah won the triple jump with a leap of 15.68m.

Haryana’s Aditya emerged victorious in the men’s javelin throw with a best effort of 67.74m.

In the women’s section, Charu Shoukeen of Delhi claimed the 100m title in 12.29 seconds, while Punjab’s Amandeep Kaur won the 800m in 2:18.88 minutes.

Rajasthan’s Kumari Parru topped the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:05.58, and Kerala’s Aleena T Saji won the triple jump with a jump of 12.88m.
