Mohali, Sep 30 (PTI) Vaishnavi Sharma’s splendid 6/52 provided India A a huge advantage as the hosts led Australia A by 322 runs at stumps on day two of the only women’s unofficial Test here on Wednesday.
India were 134 for two in their second innings, bolstered by Priya Punia’s stroke-filled 59 (77 balls, 9 fours) after they had bowled Australia out for a mere 176 in their first essay.
India had resumed their first innings on 351 for nine on the second day with Niki Prasad (91) falling short of her milestone.
The left-arm India spinner Vaishnavi then made the most of the old ball to wreck havoc in the Australian innings, which had begun on a rather positive note.
Skipper Rachel Trenaman cracked eight fours to make 44 at the top while Tahlia Wilson scored 35, as their 66-run association for the opening wicket was the only bright spot for Australia.
From 66 for no loss, Australia were bundled out for 176 with Shuchi Upadhyay (2/46) and Niki (2/27) also being among wicket-takers.
