(Reuters) – Pakistan registered the first 10-wicket victory at the Women’s Asia Cup since it switched to a Twenty20 format on Tuesday, with the comfortable win over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) securing a place in the semi-finals.

Gull Feroza scored an unbeaten 62 as Pakistan chased down their target with 35 balls to spare in Dambulla, Sri Lanka to finish second in Group A behind defending champions India.

UAE had posted 103-8 after being put in to bat first, with Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu and Tuba Hassan taking two wickets apiece.

Two-time finalists Pakistan will face the winner of Group B, with Sri Lanka looking likely to top that section, in the semi-finals on Friday.

India had posted five 10-wicket wins when the tournament was played under the One Day International format from 2004 to 2008. It adopted the shorter format from 2012.
