Toronto, May 11 (PTI) Cricket Canada has announced the appointment of Bhavjit Jauhar as interim chief operating officer, following the conclusion of the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) here on May 9-10.

The interim appointment supports immediate commercial, operational, governance, and compliance priorities during a period of organisational transition and renewal, Cricket Canada said in a press release.

“The AGM marked a significant milestone in Cricket Canada’s ongoing governance transformation initiative, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to institutional accountability, operational excellence, financial oversight, and longterm strategic development across Canadian cricket,” it said in the release.

Members from across the country participated in governance discussions relating to the ongoing bylaws review process, the finalisation of the organisation’s financial audit, and the election of a renewed Board of Directors mandated to lead Cricket Canada through its next phase of growth and modernisation.

Cricket Canada Board of Directors comprises Arvinder Khosa — President, Ranjit Chaudhri — Vice President, Paramjit Shahi — Secretary, Amit Joshi — Director at Large, Hassan Mirza — Director at Large, Sonali Vig — Director, Player Representative – Female, Manzoor Chaudhary — Director, Player Representative – Male.

As part of the governance reform framework adopted by the membership, Cricket Canada introduced dedicated ‘player representative’ positions within the Board structure, ensuring direct athlete representation in alignment with internationally recognised governance standards for modern sporting institutions.

The governance reforms, advanced following the Special General Meeting on April 9, 2026, were designed to strengthen institutional processes, enhance organisational oversight, and position Cricket Canada for long-term operational sustainability and stakeholder confidence.

Paramjit Shahi Secretary, Cricket Canada, said, “Canadian cricket is entering a defining period of structural and strategic evolution. Our responsibility extends beyond administration.

“It is about building a modern sporting institution capable of delivering worldclass opportunities for athletes while operating with the highest standards of integrity, governance, and long-term vision.” PTI AH AH AM AM
