‘Mojo’ course from Kapil Mishra will teach how to do ‘propaganda-handling journalism’
BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who has been accused of delivering hate speeches in the past, is collaborating with an ex-IAS officer to mentor what he describes as a “mobile journalism” course come 16 January 2021. It will be held online in association with the Indian Institute of Photography Academy in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The course overview suggests that students will learn about “propaganda-handling journalism”, which would include the understanding of “propaganda vocabulary”, “exposure of yellow journalism”, “media corporate relations” and “Lutyen’s media and its influence”.
Mishra’s post on Facebook says, through this course, “learn to make your own narrative”. Spread over three months, the course will be mentored by Mishra and Sanjay Dixit, former IAS officer. Apart from the course teaching “propaganda-handling journalism”, it will also hold sessions on how to edit, make videos for YouTube, “attracting large audience with innovative ideas” and “effectively implementing social media strategies”.
At the end of the course, the students will undergo a one-month internship for “practical industry” experience.

Hyderabad Police traces a ‘missing bonsai’ after former DGP’s wife files complaint
The Hyderabad Police Friday managed to trace a missing Bonsai that belonged to a former top IPS officer. The case was taken up after a complaint was filed by the officer’s wife three days ago.
The 15-year-old “rare” miniature tree was missing from former director general of police V. Appa Rao’s residence, in a plush locality in the city, since Sunday. Rao’s wife Sridevi filed a complaint Monday in the nearby Jubilee Hills Police Station. A case was registered under Section 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code and the cops initiated a “probe”.
The local police said they traced the tree with the help of CCTV cameras at the residence and in the lane. The tree, Saru (Casuarina chettee), was stolen by two men in their early twenties who wanted to sell the tree.
According to the police, this is the second such incident at Rao’s residence in the last three years. The police, citing Rao’s wife, said that the family had a huge collection of “valuable Bonsai trees” in their garden.

SP issues gag order to party leaders on Akhilesh’s vaccine remark
Samajwadi Party has issued an unwritten gag order to its spokespersons and leaders against speaking on party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s controversial “BJP’s vaccine” comment.
After his comment triggered a controversy, many SP leaders came out to defend him, but it didn’t help douse the fire. Akhilesh himself held a press conference and clarified that he is not against scientists. Subsequently, party leaders were asked to not even respond to questions on whether they would get vaccinated or not.
After Akhilesh’s controversial statement, SP MLC Ashutosh Sinha had claimed that people feared that Covid-19 vaccine could make them impotent. His video statement went viral. SP leaders have been told to check with the high command before making any statement about the vaccines from now on.
