Hyderabad: Former Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha announced that she will launch her party on 25 April in Medchal, Telangana, with inclusive progress and self-sufficiency as the core philosophy of her party.
Kavitha said the official announcement of her party would be made after a trip to Varanasi and a dip in the Ganga.
At the Telangana Jagruti party office in Nizamabad, the former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader said her party’s focus would be to fulfil the “plethora of unfulfilled aspirations of the people of Telangana”.
Recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of Sarvodaya, or uplift of everyone, Kavitha said she believed there was scope for a new political force in the state led by a woman. “With the blessings of the people of the state, I will be launching my party and this will mark the beginning of a new era in Telangana politics,” she said Friday, joined by her supporters, husband, and elder son.
Taking a direct dig at BRS, the party founded by her father and former chief minister K.Chandrashekar Rao, she stated that her party will be the only regional party that will focus purely on the welfare of all sections of the society.

To secure water, funds, and jobs for the people of Telangana was among her key priorities, she said. “Unlike the BRS which has abandoned the people of Telangana by changing the name of the party and aspiring to be known beyond the region, all my focus will be on the state.” But she vowed to “lobby in Delhi and work in the gully” for the people of Telangana, she added.
Neither her father, brother and BRS working president KT Rama Rao nor cousin and former minister T.Harish Rao responded to her party announcement or the allegations she levelled.
Calling for different sections of the society and segments of the population to join her party, Kavitha said she would make public her party name, the agenda, and would unfurl the flag in little less than a month from now.
“In the next 28 days, our Telangana Jagruti will meet civil society leaders, farmer cooperatives, and seniors who fought for the Telangana movement to take their feedback on what needs to be done for the state.”
Alleging that both the national parties and the BRS continue to neglect the plight of the farmers, the issues of the minorities, and of the vulnerable sections, Kavitha said her party would include more youth and cater to their vision of a new Telangana. She made a special appeal to the youngsters seeking their participation to “together change the future of Telangana”.
Under the Telangana Jagruti banner, Kavitha has already created 50 committees to represent different caste and interest groups.
